Changelog
What's new in WebsiteArchiver: new features, improvements, and fixes for every release.
Fixed
- No more Keychain permission dialog: WebsiteArchiver no longer asks to use your confidential information stored in “im.kip.WebsiteArchiver.sync” at launch or when enabling sync — the sync device identity is now stored in the data-protection keychain and an existing entry is migrated automatically.
- iCloud Sync now works in the direct-download version. Version 2.0 showed “iCloud is not available” even when you were signed in, because the download build was missing its iCloud entitlement.
New
- Website Crawler: archive entire websites instead of single pages, with two engines (Static & Browser), depth and domain limits, and a review step before anything is saved.
- Crawls in your library: a finished crawl becomes a folder full of pages, and you can add more pages to it later.
- Graph View: see a crawl as a network of linked pages instead of a list, and click any node to open that page.
- iOS app: WebsiteArchiver for iPhone and iPad. Capture pages from the share sheet, organize them with the folder drawer, and read your archive on the go.
- iCloud Sync: keep your devices in sync. Choose transfer-only (no permanent files in the cloud) or a full backup.
- Backup: export and import your whole library as a .zip, or keep a full cloud backup in iCloud, including restore.
- Capture queue: captures now run in the background with a status bar; keep working while pages are saved, and cancel a running capture at any time.
- Dynamic Reveal capture: pages with scroll animations are scrolled and revealed automatically before saving, so nothing is missing from the archive.
- Remove images & Markdown: optionally strip images above a size threshold or convert pages to Markdown to keep archives tiny.
- MHTML export, plus combined export of a whole crawl as a single PDF or WARC file.
- Chrome extension: save pages straight from Chrome.
- Reworked onboarding for an easier start.
Improved
- Optimized for macOS 26: WebsiteArchiver is built for the latest macOS and fits right into its new look.
- Pages are saved noticeably faster.
- Archives are much smaller: depending on the website, files up to ~10× smaller thanks to the built-in tracker and ad filter, image size thresholds, and tuned capture options.
- Large libraries: instant display and smooth scrolling even with thousands of items.
- Safari extension consolidated into a single, faster bundle.
- Complete localization in 10 languages, including the extensions.
- Better navigation in Reader View.
- Reworked license and purchase settings.
Fixed
- Safari extension: “Archive this page” stays in the context menu, follows the mode set in the popup, and no longer takes over the current tab.
- Menu commands that did nothing on macOS work again: Add Tags (⇧⌘T), New Folder (⇧⌘N), New Collection (⌥⌘N), Select all (⌘A).
- Pages captured after changing the Library Location are no longer missing on the next launch.
- Delete in the Options menu of the detail view now asks for confirmation, can be undone, and removes the archive's files too.
